Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya marked the beginning of a six-day online Faculty
Development Programme on "Sustainable Innovative Practices for a Better
Future" sponsored by AICTE Training and Learning Academy (ATAL) as on 1
September, 2025. The programme commenced with a virtual "Jyoti
Parjlan" prayer, followed by the soulful "DAV Gaan." Prof. Dr. Mrs. Ajay Sareen, Principal,
extended a warm welcome to all participants and graciously offered her
blessings for the successful conduction of the FDP. Co-ordinator of FDP Dr.
Gagandeep delivered the concept note of the programme. Dr. Seema Khanna,
Co-Co-ordinator of this programme provided a comprehensive briefing on the
programme's objectives and schedule. The inaugural session was well
co-ordinated by Dr. Anjana Bhatia, IQAC Co-ordinator and Head, PG Department of
Botany. The incharge of the day Dr. Kajal Puri introduced the esteemed resource
person, Prof. Asif M. Khan, Professor and Associate Dean, University of Doha
for Science and Technology who delivered an insightful session on "AI and Machine
Learning for Sustainability." Prof. Khan explored key themes, including:
the era of disruption, technology revolution, climate change, globalization,
geo-politics, and demographic shifts, big data, bioinformatics in relation to
Industrial Revolution 4.0, and Society 5.0 keeping in view the concept of
sustainability.
In
the second session of the series, Dr. Abhishek Ojha delivered an insightful
talk on "Sustainable Finance and Innovation: Driving a Resilient and
Prosperous Future." The session emphasized the importance of integrating
Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) factors into investment decisions
to foster positive social and environmental outcomes. Dr. Ojha highlighted key
drivers of sustainable finance in India, including corporate consciousness,
innovation in financial instruments, growing awareness of ambitious climate
goals, and the need for increased transparency. He also discussed challenges
and opportunities in areas such as renewable energy, green finance, clean
mobility, sustainable investments, and blended finance.
Both
these sessions provided valuable insights into the intersection of technology
and sustainability, offering participants a deeper understanding of AI and
machine learning's potential in driving sustainable practices. This programme
aims to equip faculty members with the knowledge and skills necessary to
integrate sustainable practices into their teaching and research.
Almost 150 participants attended this Faculty Development Programme with
many of them engaging in fruitful discussions making the sessions livelier and
more interesting. Appreciable efforts were made by Dr. Harpreet Singh, Head PG
Department of Bioinformatics and Mr. Pardeep Mehta, Assistant Professor and Mr.
Arvind Chandi, Technical Assistant to smoothly handle various aspects of this
online event.
