The Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya
successfully concluded its six-day online Faculty Development Program (FDP) on
"Sustainable Innovative Practices for a Better Future," sponsored by
the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). The final day featured a
session by Dr. Sonika Tyagi, Associate Professor in AI at RMIT University,
Australia. Dr. Tyagi's presented on "Artificial Intelligence in Digital
Health and Bioinformatics" covered key topics, including: Artificial
Intelligence, AI in Healthcare, Cancer Prediction, Big Data in Healthcare,
Genomics, health data, electronic medical records, Generative AI in healthcare
and potential transformation, AI Innovations: China's Agent Hospital: the
world's first AI hospital, marking Asia's leadership in healthcare innovation,
Challenges and Hurdles: AI bias, promises vs. challenges, and standardization.
Dr. Tyagi concluded that AI has the potential to transform healthcare and
improve patient outcomes, emphasizing the need for inclusivity, sustainability,
governance, and human-centric approaches. This session provided valuable
insights and knowledge to faculty members, promoting sustainable development
and technological advancements.
Ms. Sonia Arora's talked in the second
session regarding key principles of Sustainability: Reducing waste, Conserving
energy, Promoting social responsibility, Sustainable Business Practices
focussing on reducing waste, conserving energy, and promoting social
responsibility. She also highlighted the Government Incentives for Sustainable
Business Practices in India: ADEETIE scheme (Energy Efficiency for MSMEs),
Critical Mineral Recycling Scheme, Renewable Energy and Green Tech Incentives,
Green Credit Programme, MSME Finance, Income Tax and Indirect Tax Benefits, key
Government Policies. She also pointed out the benefits of Sustainable Business
Practices: Cost savings, Improved brand loyalty, Enhanced employee satisfaction
and Challenges in Implementing Sustainability: High initial costs, Lack of
consumer awareness, Resistance to change. She concluded the session saying that
Sustainability itself is the biggest asset, and waste is the biggest liability
and our balance sheet with the planet needs urgent reconciliation." Ms.
Sonia Arora's powerful conclusion emphasized the critical importance of
prioritizing sustainability in business practices, recognizing its value as a
key asset, and addressing the urgent need for environmental accountability.
The third session was conducted by
Ms. Richa Sodhi and her topic was, “Sustainable entrepreneurship building
businesses for a better future.” She discussed about sustainable
entrepreneurship which is creating impactful enterprises with lasting social
benefits. She discussed the key characteristics by focussing on ethical
leadership, innovation for sustainability, stakeholder engagement and supply
chain management. Her idea was conversed around importance of sustainability in
the modern economy which had impact on sustainable entrepreneurship,
competitive advantage and addressing global challenges.
In earlier sessions, on various
days, Dr. Vikram Sandhu and Dr. Manoj Kumar Sharma, Dr. Bibhu Prasad Sahu, Ms.
Divya Nanda, Dr. Naresh Sachdeva, Dr. Vikram, Sandhu, Ms. Sonika Tyagi, Ms.
Sonia Arora and Ms. Richa Sodhi were the resource persons. The day incharges
were Dr. Kajal Puri, Dr. Jaspreet Kaur, Dr. Shaveta Chauhan, Mrs. Protima, Mrs.
Jyotika Minhas, and Dr. Harpreet Singh. Technical support was provided by Dr.
Harpreet Singh, Mr. Pardeep, Mr. Ashish and Mr. Arvind.
In the feedback session, the
participants Dr. Nidhi Sabharwal and Dr. Manisha Batra expressed their thanks
to the entire team for organizing such an engaging, insightful, enriching and
informative FDP. They specifically pointed out about the valuable insights they
gained during this event.
The valedictory session began with
Gayatri Mantra then DAV Gaan. In this session Dr. Anjana Bhatia, IQAC
Co-ordinator and receiver of the National Teacher Award, 2025 by Govt. of India
thanked participants for attending FDP with full enthusiasm and dedication. Dr.
Gagandeep summarized about some of the unique and key aspects of this FDP
including the diversity of speakers as well as participants from across the
country together deliberating on different facets of sustainability during all
the six days. Dr. Seema Khanna presented the vote of thanks recognizing the
efforts of each and everyone involved in the success of this maiden ATAL FDP
organized by Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya, Jalandhar. Principal Prof. Dr. Mrs.
Ajay Sareen congratulated the coordinators of the FDP for the successful
completion of the course. She said that it is the aim of HMV to achieve
academic excellence and provide valuable information to others also through
such platforms.
