The Freudian Psychological Society of Hans Raj
Mahila Maha Vidyalaya organized a workshop on Suicide Prevention titled “HOPE”
under the able guidance of Principal
Prof. Dr. (Mrs.) Ajay Sareen. Renowned psychotherapist and life coach
Mr. Jatinderpal Singh conducted the session, he was welcomed by Dr.
Ashmeen Kaur, Head of the P.G. Department of Psychology and other faculty
members. Beginning with the simple yet powerful question, “How are you?”,
Mr. Singh emphasized how people often conceal their true feelings. He
sensitized students about the signs of distress, causes, statistics, and
preventive measures of suicide, while sharing real-life cases to inspire hope
and awareness. The workshop featured interactive activities such as a screaming
exercise to release inner pain, reflective writing, grounding practices,
creative visualization, and empowering talks on the mind’s strength. The
session concluded with students creating a symbolic “Hope Board.” Principal Dr.
Sareen praised the initiative, commending the department for addressing such a
sensitive issue. The event was anchored by Ms. Pahul Jabal and Ms. Yagima
Sawhney and concluded with a vote of thanks by Ms. Priya Seth. Over 100
students from various streams and Ms. Nandita Sharma, Ms. Ishamanpreet
Kaur and Mrs. Gurpreet participated enthusiastically from the department of
Psychology.
