Interactive Session by Psychology Deptt. of HMV

Freudian Psychological Society of Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya organized an Interactive Session on the topic Internet Addiction, Social Media and Mental Health.  The resource person for the session was Mrs. Sangeeta Bhatia, Counsellor MGN Public School, Jalandhar. Dr. Ashmeen Kaur, HOD introduced the resource person and purpose of the session.  Principal Prof. Dr. (Mrs.) Ajay Sareen stressed on the need of such sessions.  Mrs. Sangeeta explained the terms internet addiction, the advantages and disadvantages of social media and its impact on mental health.  She discussed how the youth of today is addicted towards mobiles and how the excessive usage is causing harm to our physical and mental health leading to problems like myopia, obesity, insomnia, nomophobia and depression.  Through demonstration and examples she explained the concepts and gave tips to stay away from the electronic gadgets and prevent addiction.  She emphasized on the psychological aspects of an individual strength-strong will power, focus, goal in life which can help the individual prevent addiction.  The queries made by the students were answered very well.   Ms. Roopam of B.A. Sem. II conducted the stage.
