The
jubilant cheers of the achievers marked the solemn occasion of the Annual Awards Day of Hans Raj Mahila
Maha Vidyalaya. Principal Prof. Dr.
(Mrs.) Ajay Sareen extended green greetings to the chair of the occasion
Hon’ble Governor of Odisha His Excellency Prof. Ganeshi Lal Ji and Guest of
Honour Sh. M.L. Sekhri, Vice-President, DAV College Managing Committee. Justice (Retd.) Sh. N.K. Sud, Vice-President,
DAVCMC and Chairman Local Committee and Sh. Arvind Ghai, Secretary DAVCMC were
also welcomed with green planters by Dean Academics Dr. Kanwaldeep Kaur
and the staff members of the
institution. The other guests of
eminence in attendance were Sh. S.N. Mayor, Sh. Kundan Lal Aggarwal, Sh. Ashok
Paruthi, Sh. M.L. Aeri, Dr. S.K. Arora, Dr. Sushma Chawla, Smt. and Sh. . A.L. Dhawan, Sh. Ashok Sareen,
Dr. Anoop Vats, Principal Yogesh Gambhir, Principal Ravi Sharma, Principal
Ravinder Sharma, Sh. Mohinder Singh Gullu.
The event began with an invocation to the Almighty by traditional
lighting of Gyan Jyoti and recital of DAV Anthem.
Following this, Principal Dr. Sareen
briefed about the unequated achievements of the institution which has a number
of awards and firsts to its credit. She
felt elated to announce the introduction of 13 new courses and the recent
status of Kaushal Kendra given to the college.
Apart from the brilliant academic records of the students, she
spotlighted the fervent participation of the college in Unnat Bharat Abhiyan,
DAPO and Buddy Programmes.
Justice (Retd.) Sh. N.K. Sud
congratulated the winners and gave his blessings saying that it is an honour to
receive the prizes from Hon’ble Governor Prof. Ganeshi Lal who is himself a
great educationist.
The efforts and achievements of 188
exceptional students were recognized and rewarded with medals and
trophies. 63 students were awarded with
gold medals, 26 students with silver medals and 23 students with bronze medals
for achieving university positions. A
total of 357 prizes were distributed to the students for their exemplary
achievements.
The dynamic flag bearer of DAV
organization Sh. M.L. Sekhri remarked that the college has shown immense
progress under the vibrant leadership of Principal Dr. Sareen. HMV is a land blessed with the meditation of
visionary Principals and hardworking faculty members. He prayed for the success of the winners and
thanked the Hon’ble Governor for inspiring the students.
Quoting profusely from the ancient
texts and elevating the stature of a woman to the highest level, the Hon’ble
Governor Prof. Ganeshi Lal said that girls are not born but incarnated. He inspired the students to live in the
present as youth is not the leader of tomorrow but the leader of today. Education enables them to be empowered and
provide a positive direction to the generations. Hon’ble Governor was honoured with an Om
Dhwaj, silver salver and gifts prepared by students.
Giving a vote of thanks Sh. Arvind
Ghai said that the achievements of the girls are the realization of the dream
of Swami Dayanand Saraswati. Mesmerized by the brilliant rendering of a folk
song by Gurkanwal, Prof. Ganeshi Lal
announced a cash of Rs. 11000/- for her. The event concluded with a stirring
rendition of the national anthem. The
formal Awards Day was thus celebrated in a manner appropriate to its
dignity. The stage was conducted by Dr.
Ramnita Saini Sharda and Dr. Anjana Bhatia.
