The PG Department of Punjabi organised a literary two day
International Punjabi Sahit Utsav in collaboration with Punjab Sahit Academy
Chandigarh under the proficient directions of Principal Prof. Dr. (Mrs.) Ajay
Sareen at HMV. Beginning with the pious lighting of lamp and recital of DAV
Anthem, the event proceeded towards presentation of planters to the guests of
honour Sh. Varinder Sharma, IAS, Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar, Mr. M.C.
Sharma, Secretary DAVCMC and galaxy of distinguished scholars Dr. Atamjeet, Dr.
Satish Kumar Verma, Dr. Sarabjit Sohal, Dr. Kewal Dhaliwal, Dr. Rawel Singh,
Mr. Kang and Dr. Kuldeep Deep.
Welcoming the guests to the scholarly event based on the theme
“Sahit and Samkaal” Dr. Ajay Sareen congratulated the department for the
conference. She emphasized on the role of women in building up a strong nation.
Visualizing an ideal society where there is no gender bias she urged the
audience to show respect to the elderly people. She exhorted the youth to
preserve the culture and be the messengers of healthy and pious literature.
Mrs. Navroop Kaur, HOD Punjabi briefed about the achievements of the department
and highlighted the efforts put up by them towards the promotion of Punjabi
language.
Dr. Sarabjit Sohal, President Punjab Sahit Academy expressed
her thanks to the DAV Managing Committee and HMV in particular for their
incessant support and lauded their efforts. She remarked that literature makes
us empathetic and provides a direction to the generation lost in the glint of
social media. Addressing the erudite
gathering Sh. Varinder Kumar Sharma opined that literature teaches us the way
of life and it is the responsibility of the youth to preserve the glorious
culture. He entreated them to adapt to the global and stick to the local thus
strengthening the concept of being glocal. Sh. M.C. Sharma, Sect. DAVCMC also
congratulated the college for the event and extended an open invitation to
Punjab Sahit Academy to organise their events in any of the DAV institutions.
Dr. Satish Kumar Verma initiated the discussion by
reflecting on the power of discourse and disclosing how wonderfully the syntax
of Punjabi language has depicted the purity of females. In the keynote address
Dr. Atamjeet Singh asserted that World ideologies are diffusing and looking for
stability and fixtures. The discourse is controlled by political and religious
bodies and thus misleading. Hence the literature serves the purpose to open up
minds and release the society from the shackles of blind faith. Dr. Rawel Singh
gave a vote of thanks to conclude the inaugural session.
Two parallel sessions were conducted in which Dr. Satnam
Manak and Dr. Harchand Singh Bedi were the honorable guests and speakers.
The post lunch session was chaired by Dr. Kewal Dhaliwal and
Sh. Devinder Raj Ankur (National School of Drama, Delhi) was the Chief guest.
Dr. Kamlesh Duggal, Baljit Singh, Sh. Rajiv Sharma and Dr Pali Bhupinder Singh
formed the panel. Sessions with Sh. Khalid Hussain, Sh. Narinder Singh Kapoor, Sh.
Ninder Ghugianvi, Dr. Satnam Singh Sandhu, Sh. Manmohan Bawa and Principal
Rajinder Kaur were also held. A Kavi Darbar was organised in the evening which
was graced by Dr. Lakhwinder Johal, Sh. Khushbir Singh, Sh. Ajaib Chatha, Sh. Darshan Butter, Smt. Sarvjit Savy. The conference was
co-ordinated and conducted by Mrs. Navroop Kaur, Mrs. Kuljit Kaur, Mrs. Veena
Arora, Mrs. Satinder and the members of Punjabi department.
