On the occasion of World
Ozone Day, DD Pant Botanical Society of HMV organized a webinar on Nurturing
the Nature through Plants. Various events were organized in which more than 300
hundred students from all over the country took part. Students expressed their
views through events like Speech on Environment, Fancy dress Competition on
Environment, Quiz on Biodiversity and Poster Making Competition on the theme
“Healing the Environment”. Resource person of the occasion was Ms . Rupsi
Garg from Kheti virasat Mission, Jaiton.
Principal Dr Mrs Ajay Sareen
in her introductory remarks said that this day is being celebrated to validate
the importance of adopting a sustainable mode of life. She further added that
it is important to live a chemical free life and join hands to achieve the
goals of sustainability.
Dr Anjana Bhatia, Head of
the department delivered a talk on Ozone for Life: Nurturing the nature. She
urged the students to connect with plants and nature. She further added that
conservation of plant biodiversity is the need of the hour.
Dr. Nitika gave an
introduction to the PG Department of Botany and delved upon the panorama of
activities being carried out in the department. Dr Shaveta presented vote of
thanks and also declared the names of the winners. The prizes winners in quiz
were Poonam Kumari, Gurneet Kaur and Dhwal Anand. In speech competition
Ishpreet, Diksha, Sukhpreet, Sanjana, Shivangi and Palk were declared as prize
winners. In fancy dress competition, Komal, Meenakshi, Harmanpreet and Gurnoor
were given prizes. In the poster competiton, Dhawal, Sonia, Khuspreet, Ishaani,
Mehak and Palk were given prizes. The judgement was done by Mrs.
Ramandeep, Ms. Harpreet and Dr. Shuchi from PG Department of Botany, HMV,
Jalandhar.
