The NSS unit of Hans
Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya organised a workshop on Swacchta in collaboration
with Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India under the able
guidance of Principal Prof. Dr. (Mrs.) Ajay Sareen. The main objective of this
workshop was to make the students aware and educate about swacchta.
The workshop started with Gayatri Mantra and lighting of the lamp. The
chief guest of the workshop was Joint Commissioner, Municipal Coroporation,
Jalandhar, Ms. Inayat (PCS) and main speaker was Dr. Rajni (Mahatma Gandhi
National Council Rural Education, Government of India). Principal Dr. Sareen
welcomed all the guests and said that HMV has always contributed in Swachhta
campaign and made the students aware about the campaign. In HMV, we have
installed waste paper recycling unit. The students prepare beautiful bags with
this recycled paper. She told that 70% area of the campus is full of greenery.
The college has green belts also. The college also prepares compost with dried
leaves, give planters as gifts and celebrating green diwali are regular
features at the college.
Chief Guest Ms. Inayat (Joint Commissioner) said that swacchta is
responsibility of not only government but it is the responsibility of every
citizen. Each one of us will have to contribute in this campaign only then we
can make a swacch and beautiful society. She appreciated the contribution of
HMV in every campaign and said that this institution has set an example by
participating whole heartedly in this campaign. Dr. Rajni made the students
aware about the swacchta campaign. She said that NSS is not only a social work
but it can be a source of income too. She elaborated this point with the help
of demonstration.
NSS programme officer and moderator of the workshop Dr. Anjana Bhatia
encouraged the students to become a part of this campaign and establish their
own personality. This online workshop was attended by NSS Unit Programme
officer Mrs. Veena Arora, Harmanu Paul, Pawan Kumari and Dr. Meenu Talwar along
with more than 100 student volunteers.
