She also applauded the Innovation Ambassadors for successfully organising the Webinars. Dr. Anjana Bhatia, Incharge Institutional Innovation cell presented a warm welcome to the Resource Person and highlighted the features of innovative policies issued by Government of India. Dr Swati Mehta, Post Graduate Doctorate  from Punjab University , Chandigarh, Member of  Board of Control Punjab School of Economics, GNDU and an awardee of Korean foundation of Advanced studies Inter-Scholar Exchange Fellowships highlighted the historical perspective of  Innovation. She emphasised that the concept of innovation is as old as the very existence of Humans. Right from the invention of wheel to artificial intelligence and robotics, man has taken giant leaps in innovation. In present times too, innovation depends on the uniqueness of the idea which is the backbone of any successful venture. She also made  the students aware of the fact that every Start up is not a rosy story and it needs a lot of struggle and challenges to sustain a business. So the students should be well aware of the process, market trends and do thorough research, before venturing into any business. Being an economist, she however pointed that innovation should be responsible towards the consumption of the factors of production, energy, environment, health safety issues and employment issues. This is where frugal innovation comes in the picture, where products are being designed considering the stagnant income of the middle class people. Jaipoor foot, Nano car are some of the examples of frugal innovation. In the end, she highlighted the concepts like social harmony, degradation, depletion of natural resources and inequalities on income while innovating any new concept or product. Innovations have transformed the world in a  big way , but being responsible is the key to sustainable development . Mrs Alka, Asstt. Prof. in Political Science and Incharge Legal Literacy Cell  gave the formal vote of thanks and the webinar came to an end with a positive message that though innovation played an effective role during COVID times, when world transformed from ‘offline to online’ mode successfully, but responsible innovation and frugality will emerge as the key factors towards  the Sustainable Development.
