A seven-day Faculty Development Programme “Guru Siddhta” on the
theme of ‘Advances in Teaching and Learning Pedagogies’ was organized under the
vibrant guidance of Principal Prof. Dr. (Mrs.) Ajay Sareen at Hans Raj Mahila
Maha Vidyalaya, Jalandhar. The informative journey of seven days touched upon a
number of themes ranging from Science to Humanities, self-motivation, use of
ICT Tools, preparing research proposals and pondering over reforms in the
education system. Principal Dr. Ajay Sareen and members of organizing committee
extended a green welcome to the Resource Persons of the 6th day-Dr.
Renu Bhardwaj and Dr. Gagandeep from GNDU, Amritsar. Adorning the personality
of Dr. Renu with a number of befitting adjectives, Dr. Ajay Sareen admired her
friendly nature. Dr. Sareen told that the purpose behind organizing this FDP
was to enhance the knowledge and skills of the teachers. The Principal also
expressed her thanks to the participants from other institution for being a
part of the programme. In her presentation Dr. Renu Bhardwaj introduced unique
features of NEP 2020 in relation to research. She emphasized that research is a
useful component to find concrete solutions to problems and the growth of an
institution is judged by how fast and effectively it implements, the new
policies and reforms introduced by the government. She expatiated on preparing
effective research proposals. On a similar note Dr. Gagandeep furthered her
ideas on preparing grant proposals, pointing out the do’s and don’t’s. The
participants also enjoyed the cultural session infused with vibrancy through
poems, songs and jokes. Prior to the valedictory session Dr. Shafali Nagpal
from BPS Mahila Vishwavidyalaya, Sonipat held an interactive session on the
current situation of education system and the need of reforms in it. She drew a
comparison between the past and present system and concluded by saying that the
entire pedagogical domain needs a shift and reframing. The valedictory session
was presided by Dr. Surendra Seth, Member Local Committee. He listed “Guru
Mantras” to make the process of teaching effective as well as interesting. He
remarked that a “Guru” brings light to the dark world and thus contributes in
building a better nation. In the valedictory address Principal Dr. Ajay Sareen
congratulated the organizing committee comprising of Dr. Anjana Bhatia. Dr.
Seeema Marwaha, Mrs. Saloni, Dr. Neelam Sharma, Dr. Harpreet Singh and all other
members for conducting a successful FDP. She urged the participants to take the
learnings to their hearts and become better humans and better teachers. She
also pointed out the yet another
innovation of the certificates prepared from recycled papers which would spread
around the message of sustainable development by saving the environment. Mrs.
Ruby and Dr. Rajni from Doaba College expressed their delight over the
impressive conduct of the FDP by HMV and applauded the efforts of the team in
their feedback. The FDP came to a successful close with the distribution of
certificates to the participants.
