Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya continues to be the
icon of women empowerment for a better nation with establishment of Pink Booth
in its premises under the able guidance of Principal Prof. Dr. (Mrs.) Ajay
Sareen. Hon’ble Sh. Himanshu, IAS, Deputy Commissioner of Jalandhar visited the
Pink Booth along with Major Amit Mahajan, ADC General, Mr. Jasbir Singh, ADC,
Mr. Jai Inder, SDM, Mr. Rajeev Sekhri, Election Incharge, Mr. Navdeep Singh,
Zonal Supervisor, Mr. Rajeev Khadwal, Sector Supervisor, Mr. Sukhdev Singh,
BLO. Voters were accorded a warm welcome by Dhol beats. Chon Mitras of HMV
aided the voters. Cold drinks were served in the scorching heat to voters. To encourage
voting, stalls of nail art, mehndi and tattoo were organized for women. The
model booth was decorated with flowers, plants, pink banner, ribbons and paper
craft. It is one of the unique noting venues. A festive welcome was given to
the voters in booth with elegantly decorated gazebos, red carpets, selfie
points, nail art corner, refreshment arrangements, PWD friendly facilities.
Volunteers from HMV task force, NSS and NCC acted as Chon Mitars and have been
given special training to help PwD and elderly voter’s wheel chairs and
e-vehicles are also provided. Deputy Commissioner Sh. Himanshu said that all
the facilities provided at the Pink Pooling Booth will make voting a very
soothing experience for the voters. Planters were given to the elderly voters.
Deputy Commissioner Sh. Himanshu further said that beautiful paintings,
rangoli, queue Management etc. will give pleasant vibes to the voters. On this
occasion, Principal Dr. Ajay Sareen said that the pink polling booth
established at Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya, Jalandhar is a step towards
women empowerment and gender equality and HMV has always been a pioneer in
women empowerment initiatives. Dr. Navroop Kaur, Dean Youth Welfare, Dr. Seema
Marwaha, Dean Academics, Dr. Anjana Bhatia, Dean Innovation and Research, Dr.
Ashmeen Kaur, IQAC Coordinator, Mrs. Kuljit Kaur, Mrs. Urvashi Mishra, Dean
Student Council, Mr. Sushil Kumar, Ms. Mukti Arora, Mrs. Surbhi, Mrs. Aman, Ms.
Pragati, Accounts Supt. Mr. Pankaj Jyoti, Supt. Admin Mr. Ravi Maini and Mr.
Tarun Mahajan were also present.
