Under the
able guidance of Principal Prof. Dr. (Mrs.) Ajay Sareen, Freudian Psychological
Society organised a one day workshop on Suicide Prevention Day. The resource person was an esteemed Project
Lead for Inclusion and Communication, Keystone Institute, India, Mrs. Grace
Daniel. She was welcomed by Dr. Ashmeen Kaur, Head P.G. Department of
Psychology with a planter. Mrs. Grace Daniel initiated the workshop with an
interactive session, engaging the students in various interactive activities.
She explained How we can recognize warning signs and help people who has
suicidal ideation and intent to do the same. How we can help them by listening
them actively. She said according to World Health Organization (WHO), suicide
is a significant global health concern, ranking as the seventh leading cause of
death worldwide. The students also made
posters to commemorate this event and spread awareness among all. Principal Dr.
Ajay Sareen appreciated this initiative and congratulated the Department of
Psychology and said that it may seem like there’s no way to solve your problems
and that suicide is the only way to end the pain, but every problem has a
solution and life is precious. Ms. Jahnavi and Meghna ( B.A. sem 3) conducted the stage. Ms. Ishita
(Assistant Professor) gave the formal vote of thanks .On this occasion More
than 100 students from various streams along with Ms. Priya Seth, Ms. Parul
Sharma and Ms. Ishmanpreet Kaur from PG department of Psychology participated
in the workshop.
