The
PG Deptt. of Political Science of Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya organized a
one day UGC sponsored National Seminar on Human Rights Education. The Chief Guest of the seminar was Sh.
Raj Shekhar Attri, Hon’ble District & Session Judge Jalandhar. Special Guest of the seminar was Mr. Parneet
Bhardwaj, PCS, Chairman Improvement Trust Jalandhar. Keynote address was given by Dr. Mohammad
Khalid, Associate Prof. Pol.Sc.Deptt., Panjab Univ. ,
Chandigarh . Principal Dr. Rekha Kalia Bhardwaj welcomed
the guest with bouquet of flowers. In
his keynote address, Dr. Mohammad Khalid gave informative data. He said that the world has 12 million
stateless people. Around 22,000 children
die every year because of poverty. 2.7
crore people are involved in human trafficking.
All the people must be protected.
Theory and practice of human rights must go together. Chief Guest Sh. Raj Shekhar Attri, Hon’ble
District and Session Judge said that human rights are essential. In our country, women are living in inhuman
conditions because of domestic violence.
Education and awareness regarding human rights is essential. Madam Rana Kanwardeep Kaur, Chief Judicial
Magistrate-cum-Secretary, District Legal Services Authority and Asstt. District
Attorney Mr. Rishi Bhardwaj were also present on this occasion.
There were 4 technical sessions in
which more than 350 delegates participated.
60 papers were presented in 4 technical sessions. The delegates were from Kerala, Kurukshetra, Punjab , Haryana, J&K. Eminent
scholars were present during the seminar as resource person which included Dr.
Jagroop Singh Sekhon, Prof. & Head Pol.Sc. Deptt., GNDU, Amritsar , Dr. Harmeet Singh Sandhu, Director,
Panjab Univ. Regional Centre, Ludhiana , Dr. Subash Sharma, Principal St.
Soldier Law College, Jalandhar, Dr. Rajesh Kumar, Asstt. Prof. Deptt. of Social
Sciences, GNDU Amritsar .
