PG Department of
Bioinformatics, Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya, Jalandhar conducted a poster
competition on “Women Icons in Bioinformatics”. Students of M. Sc.
Bioinformatics, B. Sc. Bioinformatics and Add-on Course in Bioinformatics
participated in this programme. Students presented various Women Scientists and
entrepreneurs working in the field of Computational Biology and Bioinformatics.
Students also came to know how women from diverse backgrounds, including,
Biology, Medical Sciences, Engineering and Agriculture has now chosen the
upcoming Bioinformatics as their career. It is worth mentioning here that HMV
is the only college in the region offering the UGC Innovative course, M. Sc.
Bioinformatics. A very few seats are still available in this course. In this
competition Ms. VaishaliArora won the first prize while Ms. Ramandeep won the
second prize. Mrs. JyotiKaul, HOD Chemistry and Dr. Meena Sharma, HOD Botany
acted as judges during this competition. Principal, Dr. Mrs. Ajay Sareen
congratulated the staff and the students of Bioinformatics Department for their
team work. Mr. Harpreet Singh, HOD, Ms. RitikaRaheja, Ms. Manisha and Mr.
ArvindChandi were also present on this occasion.
ਹੰਸ ਰਾਜ ਮਹਿਲਾ ਮਹਾਂ ਵਿਦਿਆਲਿਆ, ਜਲੰਧਰ ਦੇ ਪੀਜੀ ਬਾਇਓਇਨਫਰਮੈਟਿਕਸ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਪੋਸਟਰ ਮੇਕਿੰਗ ਮੁਕਾਬਲੇ ਦਾ ਆਯੋਜਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਜਿਸਦਾ ਵਿਸ਼ਾ ਵੂਮੈਨ ਆਇਕਾਨਸ ਇਨ ਬਾਇਓਇਨਫਰਮੈਟਿਕਸ ਸੀ। ਇਸ ਮੁਕਾਬਲੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਬਾਇਓਇਨਫਰਮੈਟਿਕਸ ਅਤੇ ਐਡ ਆੱਨ ਕੋਰਸਾਂ ਦੇ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਭਾਗ ਲਿਆ। ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥਣਾਂ ਨੇ ਪੋਸਟਰ ਦੇ ਮਾਧਿਅਮ ਨਾਲ ਮਹਿਲਾ ਵਿਗਿਆਨੀ ਅਤੇ ਉਦਮੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਬਾਰੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਦੱਸਿਆ। ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥਣਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਵੀ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਗਿਆ ਕਿ ਕਿਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਵਿਭਿੰਨ ਪਿਛੋਕੜ ਵਾਲੀ ਔਰਤਾਂ ਨੇ ਬਾਇਓਇਨਫਰਮੈਟਿਕਸ ਦਾ ਖੇਤਰ ਚੁਣ ਕੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਕਰਿਅਰ ਬਣਾਇਆ ਹੈ। ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਔਰਤਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਬਾਇਓਲਾੱਜੀ, ਮੈਡਿਕਲ ਸਾਇੰਸ, ਇੰਜੀਨੀਅਰਿੰਗ ਅਤੇ ਖੇਤੀ ਬਾੜੀ ਖੇਤਰ ਦੀਆਂ ਮਹਿਲਾਵਾਂ ਸ਼ਾਮਲ ਸਨ। ਇਹ ਗੱਲ ਜ਼ਿਕਰਯੋਗ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਇਸ ਖੇਤਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਿਰਫ ਐਚ.ਐਮ.ਵੀ ਹੀ ਅਜਿਹਾ ਕਾਲਜ ਹੈ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਐਮ.ਐਸ.ਸੀ ਬਾਇਓਇਨਫਰਮੈਟਿਕਸ ਦਾ ਕੋਰਸ ਕਰਵਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ। ਹੁਣ ਵੀ ਇਸ ਕੋਰਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਕੁਝ ਸੀਟਾਂ ਖਾਲੀ ਹਨ। ਇਸ ਮੁਕਾਬਲੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਿਸ਼ਾਲੀ ਅਰੋੜਾ ਨੇ ਪਹਿਲਾ ਅਤੇ ਰਮਨਦੀਪ ਕੌਰ ਨੇ ਦੂਜਾ ਇਨਾਮ ਹਾਂਸਲ ਕੀਤਾ। ਇਸ ਮੁਕਾਬਲੇ 'ਚ ਕੈਮਿਸਟ੍ਰੀ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਦੀ ਮੁਖੀ ਸ਼੍ਰੀਮਤੀ ਜੋਤੀ ਕੌਲ ਅਤੇ ਬਾੱਟਨੀ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਦੀ ਮੁਖੀ ਡਾ. ਮੀਨਾ ਸ਼ਰਮਾ ਨੇ ਜੱਜ ਦੀ ਭੂਮਿਕਾ ਨਿਭਾਈ। ਪ੍ਰਿੰਸੀਪਲ ਡਾ. ਅਜੇ ਸਰੀਨ ਨੇ ਜੇਤੂ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥਣਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਵਧਾਈ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਅਤੇ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਦੀ ਕੋਸ਼ਿਸ਼ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰਸ਼ੰਸਾ ਕੀਤੀ। ਇਸ ਮੌਕੇ ਤੇ ਬਾਇਓਇਨਫਰਮੈਟਿਕਸ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਦੇ ਮੁਖੀ ਸ਼੍ਰੀ ਹਰਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ, ਰੀਤਿਕਾ ਰਹੇਜਾ, ਮਨੀਸ਼ਾ ਅਤੇ ਅਰਵਿੰਦ ਚੰਦੀ ਮੌਜੂਦ ਸਨ।
