Cultural Evening "Sargam" at HMV




NGO Saksham (Punjab) in collaboration with Drishti Cell for Physically Challenged of Hans Raj Mahila organized a fund raiser musical evening "Sargam" by eminent Sufi Gayak Padamshree Hans Raj Hans in Ragini Auditorium.  The main objective of this programme is to raise funds for the production of accessible digital talking books of under graduation level of Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar, PU Chandigarh, PU Patiala and Punjab School Education Board.  With the help of these books, any person with print disability can read any book at any time without any sighted assistance.  Principal Prof. Dr. (Mrs.) Ajay Sareen welcomed Padamshree Hans Raj Hans and Chief Guest Sh. Vijay Chopra, Chief Editor, Hind Samachar Group of Publications and Guest of Honor Sh. Arvind Ghai, Secretary DAVCMC New Delhi.  She said that Saksham Punjab has done significant work in the area of talking books production.  It allows people with vision and print disabilities to navigate an audio book virtually line by line.
Padamshree Hans Raj Hans mesmerized the audience with his performance.  He sang many Sufi songs and appealed to society to come forward and support this mission of education for the visually challenged.  Chief Guest Sh. Vijay Chopra said that it is a mindset of the society to consider people with vision impairment as a separate section of the society, who cannot be integrated with the mainstream of society.  These persons are getting benefit by the services being provided by Saksham Punjab.  The sponsors of Saksham Punjab were invited and their contributions were recognized.  General Secy. Saksham Punjab Mrs. Deepika Sood said that it has been possible only with cooperation & contribution being made by the society at individual as well as organizational level.

Dr. Jagroop Singh extended vote of thanks.  On this occasion, Incharge, Drishti Cell for Physically Challenged Dr. Ashmeen Kaur, Dr. Prem Sagar, Mr. and Mrs. Ashok Paruthi, Sh. S.N. Mayor, Dr. Pawan Gupta, Mr. & Mrs. Ajay Goswami, Mr. S.P. Sehdev, Sh. Surendra Seth, Dr. Sushma Chawla, and other teachers were also present.
