Mahila Maha Vidyalaya hosted an informative, awareness lecture on Stem Cell
Data for Cancer Treatment in collaboration with Arjan Vir Foundation and 1 Pb
Air SQN NCC Jalandhar. Principal Prof. Dr. (Mrs.) Ajay Sareen extended a green
welcome to Mrs. Simmi Singh, Founder Arjan Vir Foundation, Ms. Jasleen CEO,
Group Commander Brig. Advitya Madan and Wing Commander S.K. Sharma. The event began with the pious
lighting of lamp. In the welcome address Principal Prof. Dr. Mrs. Ajay Sareen eulogized
the role of women in being a saviour of lives. Pondering over the drastic
spread of cancer in the country she said that by the time the disease is
diagnosed it goes beyond control. Such awareness drives can help educate the
masses and bring about a change. Education makes a difference and the youth
becomes the agent to make the difference.
Throwing
light on the Arjan Vir Foundation, Brig. Adivitya told that it was found in the
memory of Arjan Vir who fell a victim to the deadly disease. He urged the
cadets to register themselves as donors of stem cells. Mrs. Simmi Singh also
motivated the cadets to help people who are suffering from disease. The youth
has the power to spread such movements and contribute towards the benefit of
the nations.
The CEO
of Arjan Vir Foundation Ms. Jasleen detailed about the stem cells and their
benefits. She pointed out that the biggest obstacle in the treatment of blood
cancer is to find a match for the transplant of stem cells. There is only 1
match in 10 millions which make it crucial that more and more volunteers should
get themselves registered as donors. She also conducted cheek swab test to
collect the samples and registered the cadets. The event concluded with the
recital of National Anthem. Mrs. Saloni Sharma, Lt. Sonia Mahendru and Mrs.
Purnima from NCC Unit were also present on the occasion.
